Biography

Ashley Etter is a first year PhD student and Deans’ Fellow at the University of Notre Dame who specializes in nineteenth and twentieth century American literature and poetry. Her research considers American poets’ engagement with questions of subjectivity, selfhood, and place. She greatly admires the work of Emily Dickinson, Willa Cather, Robert Creeley, Gwendolyn Brooks, Lucille Clifton, Meridel Le Seur, Judith Butler, Sara Ahmed, Barbara Cassin, and Jean-Paul Sartre.
