Julie Minich, assistant professor of English at Miami University, will present the lecture "Behind Ysrael's Mask: Junot Díaz and the Decolonization of Disability" at 4:30 pm on Monday, February 25, in 210 McKenna Hall.
Julie Minich received her PhD in Spanish and Portuguese from Stanford University. Her research interests include Chicana/o and Latina/o cultural studies, literary theory, feminist theory, queer theory, and disability studies. Her book Accessible Citizenships: Disability, Nation, and the Cultural Politics of Greater Mexico, forthcoming from Temple University Press, explores how Chicana/o and Mexican cultural producers have employed disability images to expand, reinvent, and critique the concepts of nationhood and citizenship. Her articles have appeared in Modern Fiction Studies, MELUS, and the Journal of Literary and Cultural Disability Studies.
