"A Common Person and Other Stories," a collection of short stories by R. M. Kinder, has been selected by the University of Notre Dame's Creative Writing Program as the thirteenth winner of the Richard Sullivan Prize for short fiction. The prize-winning volume will be published by the University of Notre Dame Press in Spring 2021. Judge Valerie Sayers, the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of English, calls the collection a "knock-out" that "honors ordinary lives as it gracefully accretes striking images and motifs for tension and impact."…
The English Department is pleased to welcome five new faculty members to campus this fall.
The English Department is pleased to announce our newest faculty appointments, Jesús Costantino and Z’étoile Imma. Both originally came to Notre Dame as Moreau Postdoctoral Fellows, Costantino from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011, and Imma from the University of Virginia in 2012. "We are delighted to have such engaged and dynamic young scholars join the department," says Valerie Sayers, department chair. "The range of their interests underscores our commitment to transdisciplinary scholarship and teaching."
Letras Latinas, the literary program of the University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Latino Studies (ILS), is partnering with the Poetry Society of America (PSA) to present “Latino/a Poetry Now,” a national tour that will showcase 15 poets in a span of two-and-a-half years. The joint initiative will open Tuesday, November 8 at Harvard University and conclude at Notre Dame Oct. 29–30, 2013.
