
The Creative Writing Program and the Franco Family Institute for Liberal Arts and the Public Good invite you to an evening with Sinéad Mac Aodha, the Executive Director of Literature Ireland. She will be giving a lecture called "Why is Irish Literature a Global Phenomenon?"
Sinéad Mac Aodha is the Executive Director of Literature Ireland, the government-funded organisation which promotes Irish literature abroad. Recent Literature Ireland projects include co-editing Cuentos irlandeses contemporáneos, an anthology of Irish short stories in Spanish. Sinéad also edited an anthology of short stories from Ireland published in Egypt. Sinéad served as the Irish expert on the European Union OMC Working Group on Translation and Multilingualism. She was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government for her contribution to Franco-Irish cultural relations. She served as the Managing Director of the Centre Culturel Irlandais Paris from 2016–2017. Sinéad was a judge for the Irish Times Theatre Awards on two occasions. She sits on a number of literature and translation prize juries.
