Jessica Brantley of Yale University will present the lecture "Lydgate’s Kalendare and the Forms of the Hours” at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, February 7, at Salon A in the Morris Inn Ballroom. A reception will follow the lecture. Professor Brantley's lecture is co-sponsored by the Medieval Institute and the Department of English.

Jessica Brantley’s scholarly interests include Old and Middle English literatures, manuscript studies, text/image relations, and the history of the book. She examines the cultures of medieval reading as they are preserved in manuscripts. Her first book is Reading in the Wilderness: Private Devotion and the Public Performance in Late Medieval England (University of Chicago Press, 2007). Other projects in process include a handbook on Medieval Manuscripts and Literary Forms, an edited volume of essays entitled Late Medieval English Alabaster: A Reassessment, and a monograph provisionally entitled The Medieval Imagetext: A Literary History of the Book of Hours. She has taught at Yale University since 2000, is currently their Director of Undergraduate Studies for the English Department, and received her degrees from Harvard University (AB), Cambridge University (MPhil), and UCLA (PhD).
