Marci McMahon, assistant professor of multiethnic literature at the University of Texas—Pan American will present the lecture "The Sound of Citizenship in US Latina/o Theater: Tanya Saracho’s El Nogalar and Josefina López’s Detained in the Desert" at 4:30 pm Monday, February 18, in 210 McKenna Hall.

Marci McMahon received her PhD in English from the University of Southern California. Her research interests include race, gender, sexuality, and nationhood; US-Mexico border studies; visual art and cultural studies; theater and performance; and interdisciplinary Latina/o studies. Her book Domestic Negotiations: Gender, Nation, and Self-Fashioning in US Mexicana and Chicana Literature explores how US Mexicana and Chicana authors and artists represent domestic space to actively claim their histories. It is forthcoming from Rutgers University Press. Her articles have appeared in Aztlán, Chicana/Latina Studies, and Frontiers.
