My research focuses primarily on the community of playwrights living and working in Elizabethan and Jacobean England. I am also interested in how the pieces of theatre produced by these playwrights are studied, performed, and received by a modern audience. My senior thesis for the Notre Dame English Honors Concentration was entitled, "Shakespeare, Middleton, and Ambiguous Witchcraft" and focused on the revisions made by Thomas Middleton to the text of Macbeth as seen in the figures of the Weird Sisters. Drawing on the themes of that senior thesis, I am eager to look further into how the playwrights working around and with Shakespeare collaborated, and at how staging and performance change the reception and interpretation of their works.
