Katherine Zieman specializes in late medieval English literature and culture with particular interests in liturgical practices, definitions of literacy, and the construction of "literary" culture. She has published articles on Chaucer and the liturgical practices of women religious. Her book, Singing the New Song: Literacy, Liturgy, and Literature in Late Medieval England (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2008), explores the intersections of these issues in the late fourteenth century. She has explored the writings of Chaucer and the liturgical culture of women religious in various published articles, has recently edited the Middle English Gast of Gy for the Corpus Christianorum series, and is currently working on a book project that explores fifteenth-century manuscripts and readers of the Yorkshire mystic, Richard Rolle.
