Originally from New York State, Tony Messina has most recently lived in Taipei, Taiwan where he taught English as a second language and studied Mandarin Chinese for three years. Tony likes to spend his free time playing the violin and studying martial arts.  Some of his biggest literary influences include Haruki Murakami, Chuck Palahniuk, Ben Loory, Miranda July, Barbara Gowdy, Don DeLillo, Henry Miller, and Kurt Vonnegut.
