English for Non-Native Speakers

These courses are designed for University of Notre Dame graduate students, faculty, post-docs, visiting faculty, and staff employees whose native language is other than English and who wish to improve skills already at the intermediate level.

ENGL 90110 and 90111 are designed to hone language skills.  They focus on oral/aural proficiency to improve communication for students and faculty.  A sufficient level of skill for academic study is presumed, and the focus, as outlined in detail in the course descriptions, is on clear articulation and facility with both formal and idiomatic English language.  In addition, information on culture and other related topics is provided.  It is hoped that these aids will enable the students to feel more confident and successful in their chosen academic endeavors.
